A week ago today, the NY Jets traded a conditional seventh round pick to Carolina for Jeff Otah. Otah’s short period with the Jets officially ended after he failed his physical; essentially voiding the terms of the trade. He had 7 days to pass the physical, but failed to do so. Unless the Jets sign another veteran, they will start the season with Matt Slauson, Wayne Hunter, and Vladimir Ducasse fighting for the Right Tackle Position.
This is not good news for Mark Sanchez, who struggled last year with a suspect line. Look to see Sanchez, and Tim Tebow on the field at the same time, and in multiple packages next year. Tebow’s ability to run/pass out of the backfield and scramble out of a collapsing pocket should pay dividends when dealing with a poor to average offensive line. Can he pass successfully enough to be effective, is the real question. Or maybe the real question is how did this become another Tebow thread?
