(Litez's Thoughts)
Gun Tight Y Off - It feels like this formation is in half the playbooks in the game. But Bears is unique in the fact that it has a Read Option, and Choice Pivot Return while having all the other plays needed to make this a great formation.
Very similar to I form close, but the te is off the line of scrimmage. For the run game, you have a stretch, toss, ISO up the middle and a zone weak. If the run game is making a comeback (we think it is) this could be a very annoying formation to use primarily or to audible down to. Pass plays have PA post and PA te corner as primary options. The use of RB wheels could be a major factor in the passing game this year, as they seemingly cook man coverage almost every snap (having two rb’s on opposite sides might be better than this since you can do wheels to each side)
Not a primary formation. Has two plays with the FB on an auto motion which could be hell. Especially since the play Flanker Drive has him on an auto wheel. Sub in your fastest RB and he’ll blow by man coverage.
Once HRM drops, this could be really fun. It’s a 3 Te, 1 WR set that has the ultimate blocking. The stock routes are basically bench and bench swap, so not fantastic. There’s also a read option.
This version has the TE Corner play. Is this the year it’s glitchy? Two deep corners, a HB angle and a pivot by the doubles WR. We feel that corner routes, while still good, may not be the most dominant this year, as it was in M23. Has all the other necessary pass plays to create a nice scheme, along with a jet touch pass and inside zone.
And now we get to the hell part of this playbook. This could end up being a nightmare for people to defend. At some point in MUT, a fast Qb with abilities will be released. And when he does, this formation will be taken to the next level. Let’s start with the run game. You have a toss, with 533 offensive lineman all pulling the same way. Historically, toss plays haven’t been great the last few years. But the running game looks to have been retooled so this may have value in your scheme. It also has an rpo alert screen. This is super glitchy. Reminds me of the rpo from Bunch Te. The fact that the rb and WR are on the same side makes it really hard to decide where this play will flow for the defense. It has an inside zone, a read option and last but not least, a QB SWEEP WITH LINEMAN PULLING! Now, to our knowledge, this run can’t be flipped. But just the fact that you have QB run like this out of a bunch set, along with these other runs, looks nuts. Imagine using Lamar with this in a regs game!!?? The pass plays are fine. You can block the TE since it’s an offset bunch. With Flood, you have a deep corner and an old school fade, which can always be glitchy vs man/zone. Also, the fact that you have 4 receiving options to one side, will negate any match principles. Durham is as close to a Verticals play as you’ll get with this. The point WR is on an In instead of a crosser, so it’s not as dominant as standard verticals. You have a slip screen for those people that like to play soft zones. Y trail and Corner strike are the two main pass plays and may be good enough with this run scheme. Y Trail has a corner and post going same way (always tough) along with a drag, trail, and swing. There are so many things you can do with this play. With corner strike, you have the solo WR on a C route which you may be able to hit early against man coverage or against certain zones (if there’s no hook defender or if the the CB guards outside on a flat). The RB is on a stock in route, which are always better than a hot routed in. But the main route is by the outside bunch WR. He’s on an old school short sharp corner. These are always real tough against man and, the fact you have two deeper corners on the same side from different plays, will make it harder for you opponent to set zone drops. You can also motion him over and create a post. At first glance, this is one of our favorite formations in the game.
This version is missing Flood, but has Mesh Post, Post Wheel Drag, Bench and Verticals. Also has a read option and inside zone. Real nice complement to the bunch strong
Unsure of how to feel about these formations. If these blue routes can actually block, it might be a fun scheme. I don’t see it as a full formation to focus on as of right now, but the Chips Quads is basically Trips TE with a 4th wr on that side. Could be very tough if he can block
Overall Thoughts: The bunch strong and tight slots HB weak are the main focus here. If a mobile qb is available, this scheme could catch people way off guard and lead to success. Besides that, the rest of the book is uninspiring.
