Madden 24 - NY Giants Playbook

The first formation that immediately stould out to me from the NY Giants playbook was Strong Close Flex. As someone that likes to be under center, I love seeing new formations like this added to the game with plays that can work in a scheme. I also like the Gun Doubles Hip formation. Next thing that is unique is the Gun Y Off Trips Nasty formation which I believe is only in this Giants playbook. Besides that there are some cool stuff, new RPOS, and a couple other new formations like Gun Bunch Nasty but I didn't think the plays in it were as good as some other playbooks.

(Litez's Thoughts)

Litez's Top 3 Favorite Formations in New York Giants Playbook Madden 24

Strong Close Flex - These type of formations make me so happy. Could motion the running back out wide to either side (1 of reasons why I love Jumbo Heavy). But this also has an FB Dive with the Stretch. So you can motion and still have the run threat. Routes are real solid. Fullback in motion is a threat as well. Big fan.

Gun Doubles Hip - I actually really like this formation. Its a Stack look on the left so you can definitely quick pass kind of like we did last year in Double Stack. You're truly not missing much with this one. I would definitely mix it into your scheme if you use Giants. I would even maybe come out in this but with 2 running back personnel & audible to Strong Close Flex. Ok yeah I like that a lot lol. Expect an ebook on this at some point.

Gun Y Off Trips Nasty - It's going to need some help as far as the routes go. But I'm loving the alignment and like when new formations have potential. If the RPO read y flat / Inside Zone combo is lethal, this will be very nice.

Pistol Open Flex- Truthfully the only reason why this is in here is because I just did the Bills page and had the screenshots for it already so I said why not lol. I do like highlighting sets only in a few playbooks though and this is usable. It was pretty good last year and with the run being better in Madden 24 , and if people stop complaining about RPOs for once, then maybe this could be a nice mix in. I always thought it was cool to have a RPO auto motion wheel with 2 run plays using the same motion.

Thoughts & Analysis on the NY Giants Madden 24 Playbook by Brobean

  •  SB Wing Slot

Run game has a flippable stretch and a dive which, for now, is really all you need.  Stretch runs feel really good and could be a meta run this year.  For passing, PA Boot Slide has an S Post and Wheel which can work nicely as a switch concept vs. zone.  Also, WR wheels had some separation against man, but we’ll see how that plays out.  With mesh spot, you have the RB on a stock wheel, meaning if you flip the play, he’ll run it to the short side of the field.  If the user if guarding the RB that can be an easy gain.  You also have a post from the outside WR.  PA Y Drag Wheel has crazy crosser and Slot Deep also has a crosser and deep in to attack midfield.  A nice scheme with decent run game.

  •  SB Bunch Ace

This formation has essentially taken a back seat to bunch nasty.  There are still some good routes here to attack man and zone.  PA Fork Shot has a corner and post next to each other to create a scissors concept.  The deep corner by the solo WR has unfortunately never been great.  Best bet is that corner pulls a deep half, leaving the post a spot to hit and split the safeties.  Z Spot can allow a flood to the bunch side, Drive has a corner to the TE so you can either flood the bunch side with a streak, corner, flat, or motion him over to create a post.  TE angle has the te on a trail which is always annoying.  The bunch nasty version of boot slide is much better because the solo wr is on a C route, leaving an opening for that post to be hit over the middle.  That post can still be completed vs. man with short in.  And of course verticals.  If toss runs are good, this could be a nice scheme.  There’s still good routes here with bunch concepts always being tough to defend.

  •  SB Strong Close Flex

A really nice two back UC compressed formation.  For the run game, you have a stretch (if they’re playing man, the te side could be wide open), a dive to attack the middle, a counter (not great since pulling lineman get jumbled) and that FB dive is very glitchy.  Our man Litez ran this a bit in the beta and it was really tough to stop.  The run game, when coupled with motion, created a lot of numbers advantage.  For passing, Mills has the ever important deep post from compression, boot slide has the slot WR on a deep corner to attack the sideline short, PA draw lead shot is a down the field vertical bomb that’s trying to catch your opponent setting up run D, forgetting you can hit big plays.  Sprint flat has a post and shallow cross, going left to right.  This is a sneaky good formation.  Using motion to the RB’s creates mismatches and misalignments.

  •  Pistol Open Flex Close

A very unique compressed formation.  Was in M23.  Has short corner, C route, X Seam has an in breaking fade that can be tough vs. zone or man.  Certain motions can really misalign man.  Also, has the RPO read flat wheel.  A fun off meta scheme

  •  Gun Doubles Hip

Very similar to Tight Y off, but the TE is on the line with his hand in the dirt here, and the solo WR is off the line.  PA Go Slot cross stands out, but the crosser is more shallow.  I actually preferred this version a little more than the standard Tight Y Off version.  Flood Drive is a nice way to attack the strong side of the formation as well as the middle of the field.  Levels has a pivot by the doubles WR.  Switch drag as a short corner and a backside deep post.  You can also motion the doubles wr to the TE side and create a bunch nasty look.  Bench angle has a rb angle and a glitchy C route on the weak side.  It’s a really nice formation, but it’s missing some deep corners to attack all areas of the field.

  •  Gun Tight Y Off Weak

Tight Y off Weak has corners everywhere, pivots, and a compressed deep post.  It’s a quick audible from Doubles Hip and can attack every area of the field.  The TE is off the line and the rb is on his opposite side so protection should be great.  The play spot y middle has a glitchy angle route by the TE.  Run game has an inside zone and an rpo alert.  Would be great if there was a counter or read option.

  •  Gun Bunch X Nasty

For the run game, there are no RPO’S, but you have a HB base, inside zone, and counter.  A really nice trio there.  There are several plays with different corner routes and speed dig is here as well (they’ve added this concept to a ton of playbooks). Not a complete formation but a nice addition

Overall Thoughts:   A nice variety of 3 WR and under center sets.  The wing slot and strong close flex are nice balanced formations that focus on a run game to set up the pass.  Gun Doubles Hip will fly under the radar as well.
