Madden 24 - SF 49ers Playbook

Nothing jumps off the page for me when going through the 49ers playbook besides Madden 20 flashbacks of the run game lol. I feel like West Coast concepts have been the focal point of the last few Madden's so it makes sense that it wouldn't feel totally different than 20-23.
I think you really just have to try and play like the Niners do in real life with this book. A whole lot of tight ends, a whole lot of two back sets, and a whole lot of running in general.
The run game is good so this book should be good. It's just kind of boring to me I guess.

(Litez's Thoughts)

Litez's Top 3 Favorite Formations in SF 49ers Playbook Madden 24

Gun Split Close- With us no longer having the old Jets Split Close, this is going to have to do. Wish it had the FB Inside but it does have good routes and the read option. I'm a big fan of pivots this year, you still have the  HB Wheel play also.

The Tight Y Off / Y Off Wk Combo - Many books have these formations and I didn't always include them in the Top 3, but Niners too many isn't that great of a book and you gotta focus on the good formations you do have.

Gun Bunch X Nasty - I'm not particularly high on this type of Bunch Nasty compared to some of the others in the game like Bunch Str Nasty or SB Bunch Nasty, but if you are going to use this set, the 49ers have a pretty good one.

Pistol Open Flex- Truthfully the only reason why this is in here is because I just did the Bills page and had the screenshots for it already so I said why not lol. I do like highlighting sets only in a few playbooks though and this is usable. It was pretty good last year and with the run being better in Madden 24 , and if people stop complaining about RPOs for once, then maybe this could be a nice mix in. I always thought it was cool to have a RPO auto motion wheel with 2 run plays using the same motion.

Thoughts & Analysis on the SF 49ers Madden 24 Playbook by Brobean

  •  SB Wing Close

Wing Close is a new formation that has some nice spacing.  With the run game, you have a flippable wide zone as well as a dive, so a three headed rushing attack could be nice.  The pass plays have double outs, which has both WR’s on speed outs, and the outside TE on a trail.  PA Cross, again, you have a compressed skinny post and a crosser from the opposite side.  You also have a deep corner by the Bunch WR.  You can motion out the RB to the solo WR side to create a unique 5 wide look and still protect.  A formation like this could be real fun once HRM drops.

  •  SB Wing Slot

This may be one of the more underrated UC sets in this year’s game.  With the run game making a comeback, this has a flippable stretch, dive and a zone weak.  The pass plays has PA boot sail, a deep corner by the inside TE (streak the outside te on short side to get him open vs zone) and a deep post and shallow cross from the backside.  Has 4 verticals and PA TE Scissors.  This is a popular concept they’ve introduced to M24.  A post and corner right next to each other compressed, and a corner on the opposite side.  You can attack either sidelines with the deep corners and streak next to it.  The post/corner going the same direction is a concept they’ve seemed to add a lot of this year.

  •  SB 3 WR Sets

The SB bunch x nasty is almost complete.  Missing a few plays, but good enough to run.  The fact that you can motion the rb to the line to block or put on routes, should make this even more usable in M24.  Also, the fact that the TE can now block without using motion, is huge.  Tight ends were horrible at blocking last year without secure protector as they’d get ragdolled.  They changed that this year so formations like this are going to be even better.  The tight y off is a great formation to audible to.  You have a flippable stretch and the best play is PA Bengals Leak.  Put the slot wr on the left on a streak.  Run it with the double WR’s to the short side and this play can crush zone and man for a one play score.

  •  I-Form Close and Y OFF close

My gut tells me this formation will be back from the M20 vault to terrorize people.  The run game has flippable stretch, toss, power o, and dive.  PA Boot flow has the dreaded Post/Corner going the same way, and PA TE leak is a real glitchy pass play with the strong side WR on a sharp post, the TE on mid corner, and the solo WR on a deep post.  Should be able to bomb with this play and also create multiple route combos to beat man and zone.  One click to the right is Y off close.  A new formation and the main pass play is PA Pylon Sail.  This play has two very unique corner routes by the strong side WR and the TE.  Dual corners was the best passing concept in M23 and felt very good during the beta.  Also has double dig with a post from the opposite side.

  •  Gun Tight Y Off and Y off Weak

The bread and butter of this playbook.  We’ll start with Tight Y off.  You have choice pivot return which has a corner and the TE on a pivot route.  Those pivots (inverted whip) may be really good this year.  You also have PA Go Slot Cross which was insane in M22.  With in breaking routes like crossers seemingly good again, this play could be a must have.  You also have flood drive and red zone scissors, which both have the iso WR on a post which attack sharper and deeper.  Tight Y off Weak has corners everywhere, pivots, and a compressed deep post.  It’s a quick audible from Y off and can attack every area of the field.  The TE is off the line and the rb is on his opposite side so protection should be great.  These two sets alone could be a scheme in and of itself.  The play spot y middle has a glitchy angle route by the TE.

  •  Bunch X Nasty

One of the better variations of this new formation, Z Spot has old school S Post from the solo WR and a corner by the Point WR.  Can flood the bunch sideline and have the S post as a late read.  Drive Y Corner has the TE on a corner this time, and the solo WR on a deep post.  There really are so many way to attack deep and short, while still being able to block

Overall Thoughts:  Has a variety of 3 WR Gun sets as well as UC.  The tight formations to Bunch Nasty would be a nice 3 WR heavy pass style of play.
